about

Conceived by original Zruist Tom Sanders (aka Max Tyrell), this primarily instrumental B-side to "Nakweda Dream" features Tom on phonetic vocals, Andrew Jackson on bass, clarinet, tibetan bell, and kalimba, Rick Cuevas on the drum kit and reverse-jet-guitar, and Nancy Miller on conga drums and backing vocals. UK's NME magazine called it "a neo-african avalanche."

Trivia: "Cumulonimbus" began as a small hastily drawn chart with various squiggly lines representing different instruments and noises that band members then diligently interpreted by banging on percussion instruments, vocalizing incoherently, and playing conventional instruments "wrong."

Note: This track appears on the 2018 vinyl-only compilation Zru Vogue: Assembly For Body Movements on French label Musiques Electroniques Actuelles.
